Alabama inmates charged with crack offenses could see release

A person convicted for cocaine-related offenses could face serious consequences including jail time. It is not a far leap to guess that when convicted of a cocaine offense, a person could be sentenced to several months or more of incarcerations. What most people would not guess is that the length of a sentence could depend on the form of the cocaine, a disparity that has been eliminated for inmates in Alabama and nationwide.

Sex crime numbers paint inaccurate picture, one university says

According to data collected by Alabama colleges and universities, there is a rising trend toward sexual assault cases being reported in colleges and universities. One of the schools with the highest number of reported cases of sex crimes in the state is The University of South Alabama.

Alabama men facing drug charges

Two Alabama men were taken into custody recently by the Cullman Narcotics Enforcement Team on unrelated drug charges. The first man was arrested for the alleged drug manufacturing of methamphetamine. The second man was reportedly distributing prescription pills in a store parking lot.

Sandusky Sex Crimes Case As It Relates To Joe Paterno

Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly said Monday that Paterno is not a target of the investigation, which has resulted in charges against two top Penn State university officials accused of failing to report sex abuse, in addition to Sandusky. The state of Pennsylvania claims to have a case against former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky and potentially could reveal further charges against Joe Paterno, although it is clear that Sandusky is the target of the investigation.
