Routine traffic stop leaves Alabama man facing drug charges

Officers likely thought they were making a routine traffic stop, but they quickly discovered much more. Now, one Alabama man is facing drug charges.

Earlier this month, officers with the Jefferson County Sheriff's office pulled over a 41-year-old man near Pawnee after he made an unsafe lane change. The man apparently became combative when a deputy approached his car. Authorities allege that after the deputy took a knife from the man's pocket that he struck the deputy. Authorities searched the man's car and claim he had syringes, methamphetamine and an active meth lab in his vehicle.

The man was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, along with other drug-related charges.

Drug crimes are serious in Alabama, as they are in other states across the county. Those convicted of the crimes may face harsh penalties. However, it is important to remember that everyone has the right to a legal defense, and those accused of crimes are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Those in Birmingham and other places across the state that are facing serious drug charges would likely benefit from working with an experienced criminal defense attorney. The legal process can sometimes be confusing and overwhelming, but an attorney can explain the charges against an individual, and work towards a strong defense against the charges.

Because the government has a multitude of resources, those facing drug charges may feel helpless, but there are places to turn for help. Working with an experienced attorney may prove to be a wise decision.
