Hoover Man Charged with Impersonating an Officer and Robbery

According to the Birmingham News, Ryan Phebus has been charged with four counts of robbery and one count of impersonating an officer. He is being held without bond in the Hoover County Jail after police responded to four separate reports that a man was impersonating a police man and then robbing the victims at gunpoint. All of these robberies occurred in apartment complexes around Lorna Road.

When police questioned each victim, all of them stated that the suspect was wearing a shirt or jacket that resembled a uniform worn by police officers. The suspect was also wearing a police type badge around his neck. However, within hours, police identified Phebus as a possible suspect and he was arrested at 3:40p.m. the next day. Additionally, police discovered a car at his home that was similar to the one that the victims stated the suspect drove.

Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis stated these type of incidents are similar in nature to a string of robberies that occurred in 2011. Derzis believes that as the investigation continues and more evidence is found, other charges may be brought against Phebus.

When facing such a severe crime, it is smart to hire an experienced criminal defense attorney who can prepare an aggressive defense for you. Any citizen of the United States has a right to a fair trial and hiring an experienced lawyer can go a long way in making sure that happens.
