Alabama man arrested on drug possession charges

Drug charges are serious. When a person is accused of drug crimes, they could face hefty penalties. An Alabama man will likely need to begin preparing a strong criminal defense after he was charged with drug possession.

According to reports, a search warrant was executed at a home in Alabama. Police who searched the home allegedly found 450 grams of marijuana, 22 grams of crack cocaine, a Beretta pistol and drug paraphernalia. A police official claims the street value of the drugs is about $1,900.

A 38-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, 1st-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The man was released after posting $5,500 bail.

According to one source, this is not the man's first run-in with the law. Jail records indicate that the man has faced other drug violations since 1998.

Although a person who faces drug charges may feel that the odds are stacked against them, they must remember that they have rights. They are entitled to a strong defense, a fair trial and remain innocent unless they are proven guilty in a court of law.

It is unclear how this specific situation will turn out. However, someone who faces drug charges would likely find it valuable to begin working with an experienced criminal defense attorney. An attorney can investigate the evidence in a case to be sure law enforcement acted appropriately when they executed a search warrant.

In addition, an attorney will defend an individual against the charges and work to ensure an individual's rights remain protected throughout the whole process.
