Robert 'Rider' Dewey was wrongly convicted for the rape and murder of a young 19 year old girl in Colorado. Robert spent over 6,000 days of his life behind bars for a crime that he did not commit. Mesa County District Judge said, "this is a reminder that the system is not perfect." Even after spending all this time behind bars Dewey said that he is not angry, that it wouldn't do him any good.

The latest DNA evidence revealed that the blood found on the victims shirt was not Dewey's. DNA evidence also showed that the semen and scrapings under the victims fingernails were not Dewey's.

In June of 1994 Jacie Taylor was found partially clothed in her bathtub. She had been beaten, sexually assaulted, and strangled with a dog leash. The facts of the case were horrific. When you have a case that is so gruesome, people are often highly emotionally charged and there is a great deal of pressure on law enforcement to find the killer. It is in these circumstances when people's emotions can often cloud their judgment. People neglect crucial facts and evidence because they are so desperate for finality. It is in circumstances such as these when it is more important than ever to have an experienced criminal defense attorney.
