Alabama Native and NFL Star Charged with DUI

Alabama native Nick Fairley, the Detroit Lines defensive tackle, was arrested in Mobile County, AL, for driving under the influence and attempting to elude state troopers. This is his second arrest within two months in Alabama.

Nick Fairley was speeding over 100 mph in his Cadillac Escalade when he passed a state trooper driving through Mobile County early Sunday morning. Troopers stated that he initially failed to pull over and stop for the state trooper's emergency lights and siren. The trooper also said

that after pulling him over it was apparent that Fairley was impaired and he was arrested.

The trooper also cited him for reckless driving, no proof of insurance and an open container. This is the second time Fairley has been arrested in his home state. He was also arrested on April 3 in Mobile because of a misdemeanor marijuana possessing charge.

Nick Fairley was a leading player for Auburn University and was the Detroit Lion's first-round draft pick. He won the acclaimed Lombardi award while playing for Auburn as the nation's top lineman and helped push Auburn to their National Championship title in 2010. A DUI can carry serious consequences including loss of driving privileges, fines, and even jail.
