Birmingham man faces criminal charges following weekend shooting

One man is dead and another is facing serious criminal charges after a dispute at a Birmingham home turned violent. Police have charged a 33-year-old man with capital murder, attempted murder and shooting into an occupied dwelling.

According to police, a man went to a home on the 100 block of 68th Place North on the evening of July 1. A dispute began inside the home. A 63-year-old man walked outside and fired a shot at a 33-year-old man, who police say was a longtime friend of the family. The 33-year-old man returned fire and hit the 63-year-old man in the stomach. The man's wife was also hit in the hip.

The 63-year-old man was taken to the hospital, but died a short time later. His wife was also hospitalized. However, she is expected to survive.

The 33-year-old man was also taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the shootout. He was later taken into police custody.

Although this story did end tragically, it is important to note that the 63-year-old man was the first to fire. One man lost his life, however, another man's life is now on the line as he fights the serious charges against him.

In complex criminal cases like this one, it is best to rely on the expertise of an experienced criminal defense attorney. After looking at the evidence in the case, an attorney will defend an individual against the charges and work to mitigate any potential penalties. After all, anyone who is charged with a serious crime is entitled to a strong criminal defense.
