Birmingham man arrested and charged with robbery

The tough economic times have affected millions of Americans. Because of the difficulties some people have faced, they may have felt compelled to do things that they normally wouldn't do. It has even led some to commit crimes.

That may have been the case for a 58-year-old Birmingham man who was recently arrested and charged with robbery. Police believe he is responsible for three separate robberies in the Birmingham area. He faces criminal charges for a robbery that occurred at PNC Bank on Sept. 17 as well as charges for a robbery that occurred earlier this month at a Wells Fargo. Police also believe he was responsible for a robbery involving a cab driver.

Authorities say a witness saw the 58-year-old get in a U-haul moving truck after exiting PNC Bank. Authorities arrested the man after a brief chase, which resulted in the man hitting a utility pole.

In situations like this, those accused of committing crimes may feel that the cards are stacked against them. In those instances, it is particularly valuable to rely on an experienced criminal defense attorney. An attorney can evaluate the evidence in a case to determine the best course of action.

In some instances, when prosecutors have an overwhelming amount of evidence against an individual, it is best for a criminal defense attorney to negotiate a plea agreement. Although a person is likely to face penalties, they may be less severe.

Whether or not a person accepts a plea agreement, people must remember that those accused of crimes are innocent until proven guilty. The media and general public are often quick to assume guilt. However, only after prosecutors have proven their case beyond a reasonable doubt can a conviction be secured.
